The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council will sponsor a painting workshop with visiting artist Cynthia Schildhauer Friday June 16 – Sunday, June 18.
Join artist Cynthia Schildhauer for a weekend of large-scale, intuitive painting. With exercises to stimulate creativity, participants are gently led to experience the freedom of using fresh, intuitive insight and personal imagery to conquer the daunting mystery of painting big! Demonstrations, technical instruction, and individual assistance are all provided. The course is open to experience and novice artists. All materials are included – even the 6’x5’ canvas!
Registration is available at the JACC, Hearthside Books, and www.jahc.org/box-office. Course cost is $250 for the weekend. Participants meet at the JACC from 5:30-8:30 PM Friday June 16, and 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM Saturday and Sunday June 17 and 18.
About the artist: Cynthia Schildhauer is a successful painter living in Chico, CA, with an MFA from Chico State University. Cynthia uses transparency and adhesive qualities of natural beeswax in her multi-media paintings, often combined with many other materials including objects, words, paints, and carvings. Her work has been featured in both private, museum, and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe. She teaches drawing and painting classes at various locations, including Butte College and the Mendocino Art Center, and is an art therapist.
