From the artist:

When I moved to Kenny Lake, Alaska, from Reno, Nevada, in June 2024, I had just shredded 25 years of personal journals because I did not want to carry the weight of all those words to Alaska. I stopped writing entirely, thinking that a different environment would allow me to discover new habits of reflection. A few months after moving, I found I missed the physicality of putting words to paper. Not wanting to start another endless collection of notebooks, I bought a tabletop press, a set of wood type, and some ink; daily prints was born.

At first, I was making prints to learn how to use my press, but that soon evolved into a way to record my thoughts, feelings, and daily activities without the burden of creating and maintaining a more traditional written journal. My year of letterpress journaling had begun.

Since November 27, 2024, I have been making daily prints. Sometimes joyful, sometimes anxious, always a reflection of the moment I was in, this series is a colorful, text-based ode to moments that caught my attention. The freedom of approaching letterpress printing as a journaling project has given me space to experiment with color, text, and layer placement. The end result is not a product intended for consumption; it is simply a collection of interpretations of snippets of time that I experienced. What started as a year-long project continues.

Each print is a series of one, with two artist proofs. The artist proofs are available for $20 each. For more information on a print or to see daily prints in its chronological entirety, please scan the QR code or visit bluemashstudio.com.

2026 Gallery Exhibition Schedule

January-March 2026: ‘Daily Prints’ by Kirsten Mashinter Lawrence

  • A series of letterpress prints that colorfully combines layers of printed wood type to visually explore the artist’s day-to-day life, including daily tasks, thoughts, and feelings. Each print in the daily prints series is either 8”x6” or 6”x8” and has been printed in the artist’s home studio.

May-June 2026: 'Dizzy Hooligan: Kava, Cloth & Kinship' by Kiyana Fonua

  • A photographic installation documenting Alaska’s growing relationship with kava through the lens of Dizzy Hooligan Fest - Alaska’s first kava-centered Pasifika gathering. This exhibit will highlight the hands that mix, the garments that move, and the people who carry kava practice across oceans and generations.

July-September 2026: 'Oil Portraitures' by Gina Johnson Morris

  • A series of large scale, intimate, vibrant portraits of Juneau’s creatures and characters; an amalgamation of the artist’s love of visual storytelling, her newly harnessed medium,  and work at a scale of 36”x36” close ups.
