Arts Roundtable Minutes – November 17, 2015

Slide1If you couldn’t make it to Arts Roundtable, that’s ok. Here’s what we talked about!

Please note that the December Roundtable has been cancelled – there are just too many things going on this time of the year! Happy holidays, and we will start up again in January.

A few JAHC Announcements…

Wearable Arts Artists: still accepting applications! Please apply. It’s a $40 registration fee and a simple form to fill out. You do not need to have a  complete design to register, just a rough sketch! Questions about artist registration can go to meredith@jahc.org.  Letters Aloud Workshop November 23rd at Kindred Post! Work with the gifted writers and actors of our upcoming performance Letters Aloud and hone your writing skills! One letter from the workshop will be read aloud at the beginning of their performance at the JACC, and the Arts Council will choose other to read on air that week! $20.00 per person, you can pre-register at the JACC or over the phone (586-2787), or pay at the door. Great opportunity for Juneau writers!

Letters Aloud Performance: Nov 24, 7:00 PM at the JACC. A highly entertaining reading series where intimate, private letters letters, written by some of history’s most famous people (F.Scott Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe, and Tom Hanks to start!), are read aloud in front of a live audience. Very well-received in other Southeast communities, this show will “…make you reflect on the world and your own life  and our personal connection to history.” – Seattle Channel’s ArtZone

Arts Academy, the training session(s) required to become a resident artist for the Artists in the School Program, will be moved to summer 2016 so that residences can begin the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters. Note that these residencies pay $1000/wk for 2 weeks, and require 35hrs/wk work in the schools. Scheduling and payment are dependent on schools, with help from Arts Education Director Sara Radke Brown (JAHC). Email sara@jahc.org for more info.
