The City and Borough of Juneau is considering entering into an agreement with the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council (JAHC) to manage day-to-day operations of Centennial Hall Convention Center. As part of the decision-making process, the Juneau Assembly wants to hear from the public. Public comment will be taken during the March 19 Assembly Public Works & Facilities Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall Chambers. The public can also email comments.

Centennial Hall is currently managed by the Parks & Recreation Department. JAHC manages the adjacent Juneau Arts and Culture Center. The goal of joint management of Centennial Hall and the Juneau Arts and Culture Center is closer operational coordination between the two facilities, as well as furthering the Assembly’s Economic Development goals related to arts, culture and being a travel destination for larger conventions and meetings. If management were to go to the JAHC, it would either be cost neutral or a cost savings to CBJ. The intent is to continue to keep Centennial Hall available to the community for emergency management purposes as needed.

The community is invited to share comments, thoughts and questions on the issue at the March 19 Assembly Public Works & Facilities Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall or by emailing.
