This Page Last Updated: December 22nd, 2011Greetings from The Whale Project ..
The intermediate stage (eight-foot) whale “Spike”–bound for UAS– Is summering on the lawn at the JACC, and enjoying a steady stream of visitors taking photos. The University of Alaska SE art students painted a nearly-life sized shadow on the wall of the JACC showing how tall the proposed sculpture will be!

Artist's rendering of the proposed sculpture by artist RT "Skip" Wallen on the Juneau Waterfront.
Help us make this a reality!

Juneau Arts & Humanities joins with a local group to place a life-scale bronze sculpture of a breaching humpbacked whale on the waterfront in Juneau. Created by RT “Skip” Wallen, the sculpture will rise out of a reflecting pool with jets creating churning bubbles at the surface, sheets of water cascading off the fins and body, and mist near the blow-hole, all lending to the dramatic, majestic playfulness of the sculpture.
