JACC Rental Policies

This Page Last Updated: November 21st, 2011

Purpose of the Facility:

The Juneau Arts & Culture Center (JACC) is a multi-purpose facility owned by the City & Borough of Juneau and operated by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council. It serves the community in two essential ways:

  1. as a temporary community arts center for performances, exhibits, rehearsals, meetings, and studios, and as a centerpiece for the “cultural campus” identified in the Comprehensive Plan,
  2. as overflow for Centennial Hall, expanding the capacity for the community to accommodate large conferences and meetings.

Scheduling Policies:

When booking events in the JACC, consideration shall be given to the following factors:

  • Benefit to the overall well-being of the community, through either cultural value or economic impact or both,
  • Collaboration with Centennial Hall to maximize the community’s ability to host events,
  • Service to the arts and humanities offerings in the community,
  • Projected revenue as a result of space rental and concessions,
  • Opportunities for repeat bookings.

Booking Policies:

  • Conferences and conventions scheduled through Juneau Convention & Visitors Bureau may be booked one year or farther out, particularly in the case of recurring events.
  • Arts and humanities performances and public events are booked in January for the following presenting season (September through May of the following year).  Other events may put a tentative hold on dates, subject to the needs of the arts community. Arts uses that do not include the public (rehearsals, regular practice times, meetings) and that are eligible for the reduced “affiliate” rates may be preempted by other community uses that are one time full paying events.
  • Following the arts booking meeting in January, non-arts affiliated events may be booked for the coming presenting season on a first come-first served basis.
  • Events are considered booked and confirmed at the point that a deposit is paid and contract returned. See detailed booking information in Booking Procedures.
  • All bookings may be voided in the event of emergency or community disaster requiring the use of the facility.

Rate Structure:

  • Regular rate: Conventions, government agencies, and others not eligible for the local nonprofit or affiliate member organization rates.
  • Local nonprofit rate: for events hosted by registered local nonprofit agencies with CBJ 501c3 or 4 exemptions. The assigned local nonprofit 3-digit number issued by the City must be on the use agreement.
  • Affiliated member rate: for events and activities hosted by local organizations whose missions align with the mission and goals of the JAHC and who have paid membership annual dues. Groups taking advantage of the Affiliated Member rates and benefits assume some degree of responsibility for keeping the rates low, including participating in fundraising for the facility to some degree, and to minimal impact on the management, upkeep and maintenance of the facility. These groups may or may not be officially registered as 501c3 organizations.

Rental fees include seating and tables for the number of anticipated participants, use of the restrooms and Lobby area, basic lighting, and basic housecleaning. Additional equipment and services will be charged in addition according to the rate sheet.
