Pathways

We stood at a crossroads and each chose a pathway.

At times the paths merged, other times diverged

But always heading in one direction.

Wandering through rainforests and along seashores,

Stopping to admire Nature’s handiwork.

The Spider’s skillful weavings and the Hornet’s paper nest.

Listening to conversations between Ravens and the scolding of Crows.

Splashes of vermillion dart across the water

As the returning salmon settle down in the pools of shallow streams.

Bones picked clean by eagles and jays.

Returning home with souvenirs, found along the way.

Big and little treasures, windfalls and objects needing new purpose.

The old and used, the cast off and unclaimed, transformed  by busy hands

That work through the wee hours of the night.

Ancient traditions and crafts handed down through the ages.

New ways of using old techniques and interpreting visions of

The past and the future.

East meets West.

A joyful reunion.

Pathways

First baby steps

Garden paths bursting with colors & fragrant odors

Iroquois trails hidden by the mists of time

School hallways whispering many voices

Silent footsteps in the snow

Learned halls of academia

Redwood groves with sun streaming from great heights

Highways always leading northward

Early morning walks on an agate covered beach

halting steps listening to the raven’s wisdom

A ribbon of highway through the wilderness

Marine highways threading through towering islands

Roads leading to nowhere exactly

Flights of fancy upward as a feather floats below

Descending into depths with an ancient mariner

Pathways leading to solitude
