“New Ceramics” by Andrew Heist

JAHC Gallery at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center

Juneau ceramic artist Andrew Heist will be exhibiting recent ceramic work in an exhibition entitled New Ceramics at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center.  The exhibition will open on Friday December 2 with an opening reception from 4:30 – 7:00 pm.

Heist, a 2011 recipient of an Individual Artist Award grant from the Rasmuson Foundation, recently completed a residency at the Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, Montana.   Red Lodge Clay center is a state of the art ceramics facility that brings together artists from around the nation to work in a group studio setting and develop new ceramic work.

Heist has lived in Juneau since 2005 and has been an active member of the ceramics studio at the University of Alaska Southeast since then.  New Ceramics will exclusively feature work created during Heist’s residency period in Red Lodge.  All of the work is functional and available for purchase through the JACC gallery.

Exhibit in the JAHC Gallery

Applications for exhibitions October 2011 through August 2012 will be due: April 15, 2011 at 5:00 p.m

The JAHC Gallery exhibits run approximately one month and open on the first Friday of the month. There are typically 10 months available for artist exhibits per year. All interested individual artists and art groups may apply.
