Top Ten Reasons to Support the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council
10 Because you like to dance and attend concerts at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center.
9 To make sure disadvantaged and at-risk youth have access to the arts every day, like they do through the ArtShops at Geneva Wood and Cedar Park.
8 Because you want to provide arts education and arts experiences for children–to enhance their educational experience and academic performance, and the Kennedy Center Partners in Education and School Concerts help with that.
7 To enhance the quality of life in Juneau and make it an attractive place to live and raise children, with things like camps, Community Day on Campus, Concerts in the Park, Sundays at Savikko, the on-line arts calendar and Weekly Updates for visitors, Welcome Packets for newcomers, Mayor’s Award for the Arts, special travel packages to encourage visitors to come here, Teaching Artists Training so that it is effective to engage artists in your classroom, and Arts Roundtables bringing all the arts together.
6 To provide grants and scholarships for students, individual artists and arts organizations, which build a lively, creative community.
5 Because you meet the most interesting people by being an arts volunteer.
4 Because you believe in life-long learning and doing your best, and the workshops, Poetry Omnibus, Poetry Out Loud, Plays Out Loud and that wild Wearable Arts Extravaganza give everyone opportunities to keep growing.
3 Because it’s fun to visit with your friends and see what’s going on around town touring the galleries on First Fridays.
2 To be able to hear world-class performers through the Performing Arts & Culture Concert Series – Lakota Sioux Dance Theater? Bill Harley? The Ahn Trio? Tomas Kubinek? The Calder Quartet? WOW! And as a member, you get a 10% discount on tickets, 20% off on season tickets, and first dibs on Wearable Art tickets! AND 10% off in the Lobby Shop! Plus you get monthly newsletter so you know what’s happening!
1 Because it’s the right thing to do for the community.
