2012 Wearable Art Entry Form – Applicants 15 yrs and older
WHAT IS WEARABLE ART
Wearable Art is sculpture, painting, weaving, welding, sewing, fusing — art that is wonderful all on its own, and all the more so because it is designed to be worn on the human body. Artists in all media may enter.
The ticket proceeds from Saturday night benefit the Juneau Arts and Humanities Scholarship Programs and Individual Artist Grants. Ticket proceeds from the Sunday show help underwrite operations of the Juneau Arts and Culture Center.
THEME: FUSION
The theme for the 12th Annual Wearable Art Runway Show is FUSION, giving you the opportunity to create works that create an explosive energy on stage through the collision of two or more elements, such as materials, ideas, cultures, etc. Using the theme of FUSION is not mandatory: You may use it as a springboard for creativity, or do your own thing.

COMP TICKETS
Each completed entry application is entitled to ONE Regular ticket per performance.
When you register for your rehearsal times, please purchase all additional tickets that you need at that time so that you get the seats you need. The show is expected to sell out!
MUSIC
The music you choose to have playing as your piece proceeds down the runway is very important to how we shape the show. Please turn in a CD clearly labeled with the cut of your music, your name, and the name of your piece no later than January 9, 2012. Music should be no longer than 2.5 minutes.
PHOTO/DIAGRAM OF PIECE
Please turn in a photo or diagram/sketch of your piece by January 9, 2012. This image is crucial to how the artwork is ordered in the show. Remember, this is no different from a group show in a gallery: it’s just the pieces also all have arms and legs.
PLEASE NOTE: Your piece does NOT have to be finished by the time you apply. All we need is a sketch/diagram (and a photo of work in progress if possible), so that we can get an idea of what you intend to create.
REHEARSALS
All rehearsals are mandatory. Each Artist/Model team must attend two (2) 20-minute individual rehearsals for modeling coaching, the two grand parade rehearsals plus the Dress Rehearsal.
Individual Coaching Sessions will be held on four dates: Monday and Tuesday, January 23, 24, 30 and 31, 2012, 6 – 9 pm, at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, 350 Whittier Street. Schedule your two rehearsal times HERE. If you need an additional individual rehearsal, you can sign up for one more 20 min slot between 7 and 9 pm on Feb 6 or 8. This rehearsal will be at the MENDENHALL MALL ANNEX.
The two mandatory Grand Parade Rehearsals are 6-6:50 pm on February 6 and 8 at the MENDENHALL MALL ANNEX in the Valley.
Dress rehearsal is Saturday, Feb 11 starting at 1 pm for Act 1 and 2 pm for Act II at Centennial Hall. You will learn where your piece appears in the show – first act or second act – at your second individual rehearsal.
