Alaska Grown, Silver Hands, and Alaska Made FAQs

Weekly summertime outdoor market featuring local artists, started in 2009 with the help of Carol Schriver and Jeanne Wilder. It was so successful, they opened their own store, Homespun Mercantile, located in the Airport Mall.

The Market is essentially a cooperative – participants pay flat fee at the beginning of the season to help pay for advertising and promotions, and then pay a table fee of $10 and 5% of their weekly gross to participate. It helps raise funds to support the Juneau Arts & Culture Center during the summer months, gives locals and visitors a pleasant way to spend the afternoon, helps artists to market their wares, and is truly fun.

In 2010, the Market combined with the Juneau Farmers Market so that local producers of vegetables, jams, breads and other foods could have a weekly outlet for their products.

This is a collaboration with the Juneau Economic Development Council. The Market also receives support from the Alaska Grown program of the Alaksa Division of Agriculture.  We particularly appreciated the Moose Lodge donating tents to help us shelter the vendors.
