During this workshop series artists will receive in-depth training emphasizing how to work effectively with students of all ages in varied settings as a Teaching Artist, in Juneau and elsewhere in Alaska. Each session features expert teachers, administrators and consultants who share knowledge, skills and techniques to equip you to work effectively in Juneau classrooms and beyond.
The sessions will be held at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center and Glacier Valley Elementary School, with a PIE to be eaten at the end of each workshop.
COST: $50 for the whole series.
TO BE CONFIRMED: CREDIT: One 593 credit may be available for anyone wanting to earn a credit from the University of Alaska Southeast. (cost is $90) ** For those earning credit a paper describing what has been learned and how it will be applied is required.
This series is limited to 15 artists so REGISTER NOW. There must be a minimum of 8 artists registered to implement this series.

Topics: Dynamic Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, How to meet with Teachers, Documenting your Work

3) DURING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 31 – $10
Visit a classroom, observe, identify a teacher you want to connect with, figure out a theme/concept you want to develop into a lesson plan (1 hour)

Topics: Get Up On Your Feet: Making Your Lesson Happen! Integrating Your Plans with School Curriculum and State Education Standards

5) NOVEMBER 7 – 27 – $10
Schedule a time to teach the lesson you wrote in a classroom (Lorrie will assist and arrange for teacher contacts in schools, Lynn will assist with de-briefing) (1 hour)
