Arts Education
This Page Last Updated: October 31st, 2011Juneau Arts and Humanities Council provides a variety of arts education programming:
- We coordinate the Artists in the Schools programs for the Juneau School District
- We are Kennedy Center Partners in Education with the Juneau School District and work closely with the district to integrate the arts into daily classroom curricula.
- As part of this, we offer Teaching Artists Academy workshops, developed and piloted here, and now implemented around the state. This helps prepare artists to work effectively in school classrooms.
- For more than ten years, we have offered ArtShops, after school and summer art programs at Cedar Park and Geneva Woods, through a grant from the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.
- Performing artists from our Performing Arts & Culture Concert series offer Student Concerts in the schools.
- We coordinate the national Poetry Out Loud program for the state.
- We offer summer camps for children and adults.
- We provide scholarships for students to pursue their studies in the arts.
